Hi all, I'm looking for a heat recovery jacket that can be fitted to the chimney / flue pipe of a domestic boiler. I'm looking to preheat the domestic water supply prior to inlet of the boiler.

I have seen some posts on here about heat recovery, with some problems pointed out. One was a risk of CO being formed, I'm not sure why that would happen since it wouldn't change the boiler itself, but the boiler is located outside in a separate boiler house, so if any was formed, it wouldn't be a risk to people in the house.
Our wood burner does not have a back boiler as the hot water tank is the other end of the house, however when we gutted the living room to add loads of wall insulation, this gave me the chance to run a pair of 28mm copper pipes from the fire place/alcove to the other end of the house where the hot water tank was sited.

Apr 15, 2009 · I have an EKO40 system and actually installed one of these heat reclaimers (or so they say) in my 8" flue pipe. What I found is that the EKO40 boilers are so efficient at transfering heat into the water (where I want it) instead of the chimney (where I don't want it) that my heat reclaimer does not turn on very often because it never gets hot enough.
